“Animal Magnetism” - Sonic the Hedgehog #15
So after getting his robo-butt kicked twice now, the evil Dr. Robotnik decides that Bunnie is a forced to be reckoned with and sets a trap that’ll depower her.
Unbeknownst to them, the Freedom Fighters are attempting to get in some R&R.
(Sally and Twan are totally besties you guys! Also why is Rotor the one doing all the cooking when he’s so bad at it? )
However their precautions are all for not when both Bunnie and various metal items go flying through the air.
Turns out Robotnik has built a giant magnet to capture Bunnie since her robotic half is made of metal. It’s cartoonish but the idea is not without merit and makes a level of sense.
What really makes this story interesting is that it provides a weakness for Bunnie. Who up to now has been very over powered and yet very under utilized. Even more interesting is that it turns her greatest strength into also her greatest weakness. While also making Robotnik a threat once again. She can still very much kick his ass, but if he has the brains and resources to turn her very own limbs against her, well that makes his continued existence more creditable.
Sadly, this doesn’t last for long. Sonic tricks Robotink into upping the power of the magnet till it’s overrunned with trash.
And then Rotor comes up with a way to prevent this from ever happening again.
I mean it’s great that the freedom fighters are smart enough to learn from their experiences and can come up with ways to prevent their enemy from just doing the same thing over and over again. But it does leave us back at square one. Bunnie has no flaws yet. There is nothing stopping her from just busting up Robotropolis and ending the war right now.
Now the comic will eventually get around to giving her some actual foibles, but until then, we the audience, just have to assume that her robo-body has limitations.
The rest of the comic features a cute but inconsequential story about the gang trying to guess what Rotor’s latest invention might be, and a story where Sonic saves a magic frog that gives him three magic stones that give him temporary super powers.
Now for you viewing pleasure some Buntwan moments.
Look at where she’s looking. She’s totally checking him out
I believe this is the first time she’s called him “sugah”. I could be wrong.
Last but not least. Bunnie taking care of Ant after he’s fainted.
