The Antoine and Bunnie Retrospective - 24

“When Hedgehogs Collide” - Sonic the Hedgehog #24

So this issue marks the first appearance of Antoine’s arch nemesis, Patch D’Coolette. His evil counterpart from the alternate dimension known as Anti-Mobius.

We open up, with all of the Freedom Fighters seemingly acting like jerks.

But turns out these are their evil anti-versions trying to discredit our heroes.
Meanwhile our real heroes are off finishing up an important mission.

This scene is laying the ground work for some later story arcs. So just store it in the back of your mind for another day, viewers.

Anyways, the real Freedom Fighters catch on to what’s going on and engage the fakes in all out no holds barred brawl.

However since they’re basically fighting themselves, it’s an even match. Until our heroes decide to turn the tables with the very simple but effect strategy of switching partners.
Ant takes out Anti-Rotor. (a.k.a Boomer)

(He must have been brushing up on his martial arts skills with Bunnie. Who is sadly absent. Maybe she’s on a solo mission and hasn’t gotten back yet.)

While Sally has the honor of finishing off Patch.

(Knowing what he will do to her and her family later, makes this image extremely satisfying)

This was a funny little story. However, it does little to establish the anti-freedom fighters as actual individuals. They’re all indistinct thugs who just so happen to look like the main characters.  It works for right now, but later tales will have to flesh them out more.
